Mariposa is in the Sierra Nevada region of California near Yosemite. Mariposa is located along Highway 140, west of Yosemite National Park and is an inexpensive option for motel lodging when visiting Yosemite. Mariposa is a nice, quiet town with some interesting little shops as well as some interesting museum such as the California State Mining and Mineral Museum and the Mariposa Museum & History Center.
