Manitoulin Island, Ontario Canada

Manitoulin Island is a very special place. Located in the heart of the Great Lakes, Manitoulin Island is the largest freshwater island in the world. Locally known in Ojibway as 'Spirit Island', it has four main rivers: Kagawong, Manitou, Blue Jay Creek and Mindemoya, which provide spawning grounds for trout and salmon. The island can be accessed year-round via the Little Current swing bridge and by the MS Chi-Cheemaun , a passenger ferry that operates daily from late May to early October. Manitoulin Island, is home to a friendly, family-oriented, outdoorsy type of people who love to share their good fortune of being surrounded by 'Fresh Air + Fresh Water + Fresh Food!' Islanders enjoy telling stories by the campfire, being on the lake, and enjoying being surrounded by nature.
