About

Oman is een land van pure schoonheid, waar u zich als reiziger onderdompelt in de rust, ruimte en warmte van het Midden-Oosten. Tijdens deze complete rondreis ontdekt u de culturele rijkdom, natuurlijke pracht én tropische kustlijn van dit gastvrije sultanaat.

U begint de reis in Muscat, waar moderne elegantie samensmelt met traditionele charme. Via de schilderachtige kustweg bereikt u het maritieme Sur, waar traditionele dhow-boten nog altijd met de hand worden gebouwd. Vervolgens rijdt u de uitgestrekte Wahiba Sands in, waar u de magie van de woestijn ervaart tijdens een bijzondere overnachting in een sfeervol desert camp, onder een fonkelende sterrenhemel.

In Nizwa wandelt u langs het imposante fort en de levendige souk, voordat u de bergen van Jabal Akhdar intrekt: een koeler en groen gebied met terrastuinen, diepe wadi’s en spectaculaire uitzichtpunten. Na een laatste overnachting in Muscat laat u het binnenland achter u en vliegt u naar het zuidelijke Salalah.

Salalah is Oman op z’n tropischst: witte stranden, wuivende palmen en helderblauw water nodigen uit tot ontspanning. Hier kunt u de reis in alle rust afsluiten, onder de zon genieten van de Arabische zee of een bezoek brengen aan eeuwenoude wierookroutes en oases.

About the destination: Nizwa is the largest city in the Ad Dakhiliyah Region in Oman and was the capital of Oman proper. Nizwa is about 140 km (1.5 hours) from Muscat. The population is estimated at around 72,000 people including the two areas of Burkat Al Mooz and Al Jabel Al Akhdar. Nizwa is one of the oldest cities in Oman and it was once a center of trade, religion, education and art. Its Jama (grand mosque) was formerly a center for Islamic learning. Nizwa acquired its importance because it has been an important meeting point at the base of the Western Hajar Mountains.
