About

U start de reis in Tokyo. Wijken als Shibuya en Shinjuku zijn een mooi uitgangspunt om de stad te verkennen. U brengt een bezoek aan de Skytree Tower voor een mooi uitzicht over de stad. U bezoekt de tempels en komt tot rust in een van de stadsparken. Tijdens de Sakura, het kersenbloesemseizoen, staan hier de kersenbomen prachtig in bloei en is het extra levendig met familie bijeenkomsten voor een picknick en fotosessie in het park. In Tokyo gaat traditie hand in hand met ultra modern. De skyscrapers wisselen zich af met eeuwenoude tempels. U checkt bij menig hotel in bij een robot in plaats van een persoon, en tegelijk kunt u op straat een Geisha tegen het lijf lopen.

Na de highlights van Tokyo en Kyoto reist u verder per trein naar Okayama. Hier haalt u bij het station de huurauto op waarmee u de komende week in uw eigen tempo het groene en nog rustige eiland Shikoku gaat verkennen.

Bezoek vanuit Takamatsu het kunsteiland Naoshima. Of maak een dagtrip naar Marugame om daar het originele samoerai kasteel te bekijken en de meer dan 1.300 traptreden naar het heiligdom van Kompirasan te beklimmen.

Vanuit Takamatsu rijdt u via het groene binnenland van Shikoku richting Kochi aan de ruige zuidkust. Kochi is een goede uitvalsbasis om de zuidkant van Shikoku te bezoeken. Breng een bezoek aan Kaap Ashizuri of Kaap Muroto. Beide met prachtige uitzichten over de oceaan. Let op: zwemmen is hier bij de stranden niet verstandig in verband met het wilde water.

Shikoku staat bekend om de Henro Trail; een pelgrimsroute langs 88 tempels over het eiland. De route is in zijn geheel ongeveer 1200 kilometer lang. Het is mogelijk om hier een deel van de wandelen. Vanuit Kochi gaat de autoreis verder naar Matsuyama.

Shikoku is verbonden met hoofdeiland Honshu van Japan met aaneengeschakelde bruggen tussen de eilanden in de Japanse Binnenzee. U rijdt van Matsuyama via deze bruggen en eilanden via de toeristische trekpleister Onomichi naar Fukuyama, bekend om zijn prachtige Fukuyama Castle.

Van hieruit rijdt u terug naar Okayama om de huurauto weer in te leveren en per trein door te reizen naar de laatste stop tijdens deze reis door Japan: Osaka.

Bijzonderheden:

Het verblijf in een traditionele Ryokan is een bijzondere ervaring. Hou er rekening mee dat in de meeste Ryokans het sanitair gezamenlijk is.
